Took the oven apart and checked the fan: not tripping the RCD. Cleaned the element around the connectors but still tripped the RCD. Took element out (2 screws and 2 nuts), checked it with a multimeter: 24kΩ sheath to terminal... No need to go to my mate with the megger. Have ordered a new...

OK, so I'll take it apart over the weekend and have a look at the motor and fan oven element. The element is only about £25 so that's worth a punt...

Thanks both. I'll try to figure out how to remove the element. I have a friend who has a megger. Thanks to your prompting I made another discovery: it's only the fan oven that trips the RCD, the microwave AND the grill work fine. So I'm guessing it was indeed oven cleaner sprayed in the fan...
