Thanks all for Input.
Going up tomorrow to discuss all options with Insurers, Fire Alarm Contractor and Client.
Forgot to mention, due to hot work permits in place in castle grounds every single other trade and company have had worked paused!!
I made it clear to the client if we can get a signature from Authorised person then we can power it back up. I had already discussed a quick temporary lockable enclosure or making it secure in some way.
The client advised us that now they have it in writing how bad the Electrics are on the 4th...
Good point - Before going ahead they may need to check with Fire Alarm company and Insurers etc, Yes its A listed. The main fire panel and all other floors are fine, I am really just thinking of ideas for these 2 repeater panels on top floor where we have now isolated Fuse Boxes which supply them.
These repeater panels are at different locations on the 4th floor, was trying to get away from cables trailing up stairs etc.
I had thought if I can buy 2 units and just sit them right next to panel and neatly clip cable into the existing unswitched spur unit etc and introduce some plug and play...
Hi there,
We have just completed an EICR on a Historic Castle, 1 of the Fuse Boxes was pretty bad so we have issued a Dangerous Installation Notice and removed supply fuses and locked it off etc. Its an old wooden fuse box with double pole fusing etc etc etc.
Anyway, my current problem is that...
Evening,
Wondering if anyone knows where I can source an Imperial Die with a suitable ratchet crimper for a specialist job we need to do.
I have sourced the below but after a bit of research and measuring Im pretty sure the conduit we need to thread is 5/8. Afterwards we can put on a 5/8...
Thanks for the replies guys. Its a difficult one. Will take a photo and upload it to show the problem better.
The bathroom above the location looks to be around £400 per floor tile and about the size of my full house
Ye I know its not an easy one. I will take a photo on my next visit and all will make sense. I had thought of putting a piece of wood in between the wall and the pipes to prize them out a bit to allow me to thread them. I was just thinking of a good decent way to earth the existing pipes which I...
Evening.
I was wondering if anyone knew or has sourced Imperial metal conduit Dies?
I have a job coming up in an old mansion house where there is existing imperial conduit drops down to a consumer unit location above a ceiling which is accessible through a large hatch right at the DB. The...

Hi there,
I have run a brand new 50ft HDMI cable which is good quality and has built in booster to run from my main sky box which is in another room from the main TV I use. The cable etc is all ok as I have tested it with DVD player and Sky Q box which I took from a neighbour however when I...
Hi,
I am an electrician to trade however used to wire my own sound system etc when I was younger. A friend asked me to fit a new Sony CD player in a fiat punto 53 plate.
Got the wiring loom, new facia and attempted it today but with no success. I have the wiring diagram from the CD player side...
Yes cabinet is metal
Im heading back next week and will start testing - I am going to put this circuit on RCD side to rule out mixed neutral problem etc then see what happens
Thanks for your help
Not sure mate going back to it beginning of the week to start testing but as you said I would have expected it every time. To my knowledge their was a mirror light there before this one so supply is not new which is making me think the LED aspect of it may be causing problems but it is still...
According to the customer the fault started once mirror was fitted a few months ago but I looked at it a few weeks ago and said it couldn't be the mirror as it was fed from lighting circuit that had nothing to do with RCD side and to keep an eye on it and try and keep record what is on when it...
Well there is main 100A 2 pole main switch with busbar attached feeding mcb's (one of these the affected lighting circuit) Then from bottom of this main switch as well as busbar is flexi tail feeding top of RCD main switch feeding its circuits. There is 2 neutral bars - one for standard mcb side...
Evening all.
Popped in to see a job today -
Customer has a split board - 5 or 6 breakers fed from RCD 30mA main switch ( feeding sockets, shower etc as expected) and 5 or 6 circuits fed from standard 60898 mcb's off the main switch side ( lights, alarm etc again as expected)
The fault is -...
