    Grandkids updated

Thank you. I must admit, and it has surprised me that since retiring, I have lost all interest in the electrical trade. Is that the 550D you have? Was and still is a decent camera. I upgraded to the 6DMKII after buying a second hand 6D, the difference compared to my pre-loved 5D was night and...

    Grandkids updated

One from today. I cheated and took these separately, Turned one around and merged them. Looks like a floating head on the left, but on my monitor (original image) you can see the detail of the black jumper. 1st studio session with my upgrade in gear EOS 6DMKII

Anyone can fix an MICC cable leading to a light switch in my house (London, N6)?

A length of 1/4" rod bent over at one end for a handle with a slit in the other end to insert a slice of pyro was the best stripping tool.

Extending earth rods making minimal difference?

I had two pet hates with rods. One was that each lower coupler opened the entry hole and made the upper rods looser in the ground - although in time the ground would close up. Pity they wasn't designed to screw into each other rather than use a coupler. The other was the couplers always appeared...

    Voltage optimizers any good?

Once car chargers and electric boilers are the norm, optimisers will be redundant. 😆

    Scotland Ban Gas Fired Boilers

All posters to this section have renewed my faith that not everyone in the UK has gone bonkers. Its always been that when discussing various subjects with customers and many others you meet that it rarely compares to what we are being fed by the media.

Any recommendations for a simple CCTV and alarm system to fit?

I quite like these people for the cctv https://www.digitaldirectsecurity.co.uk/uniview-kits.html As regarding alarms, I personally would always for for a hard wired system and favour Texecom gear. https://www.alertelectrical.com/texecom_premier

Started back into my photography after forced retirement.

My choice years ago was Olympus (OM1 & OM2), I also dabbled with a Yashica and an old Bronica medium format camera's. I had a darkroom with a brilliant Phillips pcs2000 enlarger and colour analyser, the most awkward part was getting the colour balance right, it took a lot of time inc...

Started back into my photography after forced retirement.

My first 5D cost around £1350 many years ago, just bought a second hand one as a second camera, very good condition £229 - unreal. The lens's however hold their price.

Started back into my photography after forced retirement.

Multi quote gone haywire and cant edit??? I started off with the 85mm/1.8 but due to space limitation as this was done in my lounge I quickly had to revert to the 50mm/1.8. As cheap as this lens is, it can still do a pretty decent job. I think a lot of trades can have similarities. There are...
