Standard set up for emergency lighting

Best solution will be to have one of the wholesalers come out and do a lighting design for you to absolve you of any liability in regards to the design. Personally I'd put test switches in near the board and I would have the emergency lighting coming from the same MCB/RCBO that it is going to...

Advice for practical test (Western Power)

I went for a practical assessment with a Scottish DNO not so long ago. It involded two short "assessments". The first was one to get a look at your hand skills, and whether you could follow instruction. An instructor showed everyone how to strip a cable and connect it up to a cut out. There...

Trainee Section - Low Traffic... Why?

Perhaps people just miss the post? I know I mostly check the homepage for new threads on the stream and some times if it's been a few days you miss a few threads. When these trainee posts go up does everyone registered as a trainee get a private message and email? This could help grab people's...

Steel conduit - tips and tricks?

Good point, it'll be 1.5mm singles for lighting circuits. Don't want to have to needlessly deal with bends when I could use the boxes to pull through from!

Steel conduit - tips and tricks?

Hello! Got a few jobs on the way that involve large amounts of conduit work. All surface mounted and will mostly be mounted externally around the building. I was just wondering if anyone has any good tips, tricks or good points to think about when doing it to be quicker and more efficient...

    Another apprentice question, re AM2/FICA

From what what I can remember (in the AM2) you are given a table with a list of categories on the left hand side and then you write the corresponding hazards you'd expect to find. How to mitigate against such hazards. Who may be affected. Etc etc. It wasn't terribly in-depth.

    Socket Wattage (Design).....

The maximum demand for these circuits is equal to their protective device rating, any more and they would overload and the protective device would operate. For example, for a ring final circuit protected by a 32a mcb, 32A would be the maximum demand. Diversity will thin these values down when...

    Cloud flare not doing anything.

I'm sure there was a suggestion on here to moderate the first post for new users a while ago. That would get rid of the spammers coming on and posting easy enough.

Does having your compex and/or 2396 design help towards electrical and electronic HNC?

It can do. Best to speak with the college you wish to enrol with for further details as it will be at their discretion.

Inspect and test construction site temp power

It's all part of the Lighting & Power Distribution System (LAPDS) used by the British Army these day, manufactured by Blakley Electrics. If I remember correctly, LDU stands for Local Distribution Unit.

Inspect and test construction site temp power

If you are unsure of any procedures, give the instructors over at Chatham a ring and they will be more than happy to help out with guidance on how to carry out the inspection and testing to the required standard.

How to carry out PEFC and PSCC on a three phase db with a rcd as the supply?

You would never energise an installation with the earthing conductor removed for obvious reasons. The Ze test is done on the supply side of the mainswitch/protective device.

Am2 exam question bonding cable tray/ metal trunking?

You are not required to bond the cable tray that is already pre-installed for you during the AM2.
