Hi All,
Can anyone help with calculating a Zs value for the fuse described in the title.
The fuse sizes in Fig 3A3(c) of the 18th edition wiring regulations do not have a 355A fuse and jumps from 315A fuse to 400A fuse.
I've searched and searched but struggling to find an answer.
Any help is...
I'm looking for fuse blocks/holders for some BS88 (actually BS88-4 I think) fuses from Eaton - models 50FE and 20CT. I just need a way to mount these in an electrical panel I'm building. I can find a few scant results for fuse blocks for other types of BS88 fuses, but never ones that fit these...
Hi
First time with this kind of a job for me.
I have a scenario where i am planning to install about 50m 25mm TPN from a TNCS supply to supply a small metal container housing TPN pump control gear to control two TP 24KW .8 PF pumps (to be fair one is a 15kw, but allowance to swap out one for a...
Hi, Ive got an upcoming job to determine the cause of a BS88 fuse tripping in a switched fuse unit that powers a 125A consumer unit yet none of the MCB's trip, Just the one cartridge fuse.
What is a concern about this site is that the old fused switch unit is 63A, yet it is feeding a 125A...
Was wondering why was BS1361 replaced by BS88 even though BS1361 tends to have a larger breaking capacity according to the on-site guide if I'm reading it right, however, I maybe wrong.
For example BS1361 breaking capacity can be 16.5kA to 33kA depending on what type you get, where BS88 is 16kA...
I was wondering, are BS88 fuse boards still used on some new installations especially industrial and even commercial. And if so would that be ok with the regulations or not because its not retrospective. I know they are quite outdated and its hard to find a electrical wholesaler selling BS88...
Just been asked the question can a new 3 phase supply be installed into an existing DB that has BS88 fuses in and all current 3 phase supplies are fed from individual fuses or does it need the DB taking out and replacing with a modern 3 phase DB with MCB'S? Just want to get what other people...
Hi,
I am trying to determine the Ka rating of the above fuse. For 400V I believe it is 80 Ka but have found that it is 40 Ka for 250V DC. Can anyone tell me what it is for 230V AC or where I can find the answer?
I have already looked on the web and in the latest OSG but maybe not in the right...
Hi,
I am looking for a BS88 fuse to fit a B2 200A holder and not look odd for part of a prop for a photoshoot. Does anyone have any used or blown ones I could have?
Thanks
I know this might sound like a daft question and I think I know the answer, but a Hager bs88 fuse carrier is rated at 415v three phase, I want to use it for 230v single phase, for a welder, I take it there's nothing wrong with that as long as the readings are ok, I haven't tested or even...
Went to look at a job on Friday and I think I already have the answer just putting it out there.
Factory has been completely gutted been asked to put in a 315a TPN by the head running a sub main to the other part of the building they are going to be using.
My problem is I already have a Ze of...
Hi
We have a LV section board supplied with 630mm singles. The ammeter on the board is reading 530 amps per phase. We checked upstream and it is supplied from 3x400amp bs88 fuses. Can anyone explain why the fuses can take this load without blowing. If so where can I get some documentation to...
Hello I was told the other day that they used silver in the old BS88 fuses but he wasn't sure when they got phased out, can anyone shed light on this please if it true or not ?
Can anyone help with the time current characteristics of which will operate first? Essentially a 40A type D crabtree pole star fed from a BS 88 g 63A fuse. Looking at the time current characteristics I reckon that the BS88 would operate at a fault current of 500A for a 0.4s disconnection whereas...
What is the maximum earth loop impedance to BS7671:2008 for a circuit protected by a 20A BS88 (gG) fuse giving a 5 second disconnection time is:
A: 7.42
B: 2.91
C: 1.84
D: 1.35
The green book says the ln for this type of fuse is 78A p299, that doesnt give you the right answer though.
:confused5:
Industrial installation (non-domestic). Here's the scenario:
A large (150kW) 3-phase motor circuit where the supply is taken from a starter fitted with 315A BS88 HRC fuses.
From calculation using the cable data, the Zs value exceeds the manufacturers requirement for 5s disconnection time...
