Hi, first post newbie here.
I have a question relating to what I am told is a grey area in both 7671 and low voltage assemblies regs. I have a customer with some LV industrial control panels, 100A fused isolator with 25mm main singles from isolator down to motor drive, but off the isolator...
Hi,
I have a book on domestic wiring which says that everywhere there is a change in current carrying capacity along a circuit there must be some kind of protection (fused spur etc).
Suppose I need to run above an insulated ceiling (reference method 101) and then down a wall (reference method...
Hi, I’ve got a brand new dough mixer which won’t work. Out of the box it just popped when switched on and tripped the power in my shop. Using a voltage pen I’ve detected that there’s power getting into the circuit board but not out. Noticed the fuse in the board was gone so replaced it and when...

I live in a small town where it is difficult to find ceritified electricians. In fact, electrician certification is not common for residential installations. I did find some experienced electricians but I don't think they are certified and know best practices in the installation.
I...
Hi All,
I’m a retired electrician from the Detroit area. My question is, I need to replace some old two prong receptacles in my daughters 75 year old home. Code says I can install a GFCI receptacle in the first receptacle of a group of receptacles and install standard three prong receptacles...

Hi I’m in the middle of installing a 2500kw cooker, I have an existing cooker circuit with 6mm cable on a 32Amp breaker with a spur coming of the cooker switch to a double socket which I assume fed the old cooker on a plug top!
My question is:
Can I replace the double socket with an terminal...
Hi Everybody
Why fuse is no longer use in Final Circuit Protection. Instead, Circuit breakers are used.
So far, I know that CB is more sensitive than fuse.
Can someone depicts any reason and their respective curves.
Thanks
Hi everyone - I am new to the forum , I'm hoping I have come to the correct place to post! I am not an electrician, I have reasonable electrical understanding and know how circuits like ring/radials work, how consumer units protect the circuit etc but little more.....
Recently our drying...

Hi all
I am planning a CU change for assessment. My detached garage is currently fed from a 16a MCB in my CU. The garage CU has RCD protection for sockets and lights. My question: Can I run the SWA from an unprotected way in the house CU (as it is now) so that I don't have to consider...

I'm sure we've all come across these scenarios:
16A supply to garage from consumer unit to a socket and an FCU feeding the lights with a 5A BS1362 fuse.
32A ringmain extended to feed conservatory with FCU with 3A BS1362 fuse feeding garden/patio lighting.
Central heating supply from...
I am currently changing an old consumer unit for a new RCD protected split board. One of the circuits is a 6mm submain circuit protected by a 32A MCB that exits the house, crosses the court yard via a catenary wire, and enters the garage 4 way RCD protected board. Is it ok to put this circuit...
