Good afternoon all, today I experienced a near death electric shock. This happened on a single phase domestic property!
I was carrying out a few minor jobs for a customer: one of them was to install a new flood light to an old brick store in their back garden.
The brick store was fed via a...
Hi men. This fixture began flickering then the bulb died. I put a new one in and it immediate made a popping sound and died. I opened it to look at the connections and it appears the ground wire is disconnected. I don’t see the other end of the ground wire or anything that with my limited...
So my son purchased a house. I look around it with him some months ago and noted the electrics needed sorting.
Old consumer unit (wired fuse type) no RCD protection and cables coming into from rooms in the house that look like lead?
House is 1910's
Anyway he does not want to get an...
Over the last week or so my laptop has crashed on me a few times and giving me the BSOD.
Its a few years old now, but wouldn't say it was ancient.
The error code it gives is UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION
When I google that, it says that it can be caused by a few things, one being a hard disk on...

To the best of my knowledge we've never had this out on here. So, Pope: Death Penalty Represents 'Failure'
The leader of the world's catholics has spoken out against it and if you're one of them there's the concept of Papal Infallibility as he has a direct line to god (allegedly)

I realise that the plumbers forum will be full of this, and justifiably so, but from a skilled trade to another, this is a hard and cold lesson for us all:
if it's not done properly, it can kill.
BBC News - Gas fitter Andrew Hartley jailed over Zoe Anderson's death
Ted has posted on the open forum about the overspend already of the Fit budget (450 million instead of the projected 200 million ) - is this the final straw? I can see a mad rush to July 1st once customers have got wind of this and a notional 5p/kwh after that using emergency powers - unless...

What do all you peoples out there think of the Chocbox ?
I for one think they totally ****, the cable entry point is ill-conceived, if you attempt to cut them out the box end splits. If you try to use them, the cable (unless it’s flex) fails to locate properly, and the wings stay open wide...
Am I correct in assuming that in domestic properties as long there is RCD protection and the fans are IPX4 there is not a requirement any more for fitting LV fans in special locations. If this is the case will the manufactuers start to only produce 230 volts units?:)
