Massive apologies if this had been asked already but I couldnt find it. I'm the director of my own company as went Ltd instead of self employed. Seems to be conflicting reports as to whether we can claim the 80% salary of employees back if you ate the director. Does anyone know where we stand?

the company in question owes me a few £K, but I have had information today they are trying to go into liquidation.
i know this company has a history of setting companies, building up a debt then...
Does anybody know if HMRC will allow you to be a Sole Trader and a Company Director in the same year.
The reason for asking is that I'm a Sole Trader, as is my mate, but on bigger jobs we work together, invoicing clients seperately.
I was wondering if we could retain our sole trader "roles"...
