Folks need advice. House I am working on. TT earthing. The rod is closer to the gas pipe/meter box than the Consumer Unit. I wondered why I could find no bonding conductor in the CU. It appears someone took the Main Earth 16mm cable from the earth rod to the gas pipe and then onto the Consumer...
evening everyone . Quick question here I’ve recently took over a job that a friend of mine first fixed it’s a 3 bed semi house rewire. I don’t usually do this but he’s recently folded he’s business because of a job he’s got so no longer registered. I know he’s workmanship is to a good standard...
I know once you see plastic entering then you don’t need to bond as it says on site guide.(enters the house plastic then it’s metal)
Would I be in wrong if I have earthed the plastic gas pipes ?
Can someone point me in right direction in on site guide if it’s wrong and why it’s wrong ?
Hi all, is it acceptable or was it in previous regs if not anymore? To take the gas bond straight off the TNS connection shared with main Earth? See pic.
Thanks
Paul
Hi Guys,
I'm looking for some opinions, I've got a customer with a gas meter in an in ground box (see picture). The pipe to the meter is plastic as the meter was moved a few years ago but its metal where it enters the house from the outgoing side of the meter.
Would you bond this?
The customer...
Hello everyone,
I am buying a property where the current owner has a EICR stating unsatisfactory due to (3.1g) main gas bond omitted and gas installation pipes.
The report also states the following overview:- **General condition of the installation (in terms of electrical safety):
Wired to...
So up until this morning I thought I had seen most faults in an electrical installation, but this one today has me stumped and I’m not sure if I’m being stupid and the issue is staring me right in the face! long story short we went to a domestic property with a TNCS to install a supply to a...
Doing some bits for an old boy and checked the bonding, the gas bond does not go back to the DB or MET, but is staked right next to the main earth rod.
I suppose it will effectively put the pipework in the same equipotential zone as the main earth, but just why make your life harder?
hello guys
I need some advice on and EICR job.
On the MET we have two main bonding conductors 10mm each.
Water is fine however I cannot find the gas bond connection on the pipe.
I know it is connected to the pipe as a long lead test gives me 0.02.
The pipes resistance rises as I disconnect...
Hi
Is it ok to link several gas meters from the MET in a block of flats which previously had night storage heating in all of them. I only say this because of the work it would involve running separate cpc's from each CU to the meters.
Cheers
Paul
I have just carried out an EICR and the only C1 defect I found was no 10mm bond to the gas. As this is not a fixed gas feed but only a gas cylinder I guess this still requires an earth bond from the DB? (feeds hob only)
My next question is, if the rubber hose from the cylinder was to continue...
I have recently gone self employed and already had my first awkard customer.
I have quoted for a fuse board change and on my visit noticed that the gas is not bonded. The customer is happy for me to go ahead and change the fuse board but does not want to pay extra to have the gas bonded...
Would you use a code 3 on condition report? gas pipe bonded in 10 mm2 about 1500mm Away from meter and after thd first "T". also what about light fittings with no back plate on ceiling rose which are mounted on wooden clad cieling (combustable). ta
Hello
Just a quick memory jerker. Bungalow external flush gas meter, pipe exits from bottom of meter box tees left into kitchen then straight into small gas heater so cannot bond here. Other tees right runs up wall into loft not easily accessable for future inspections. If i remember rightly i...
Hi guys in my house my gas meter is under the stairs and when i moved in i checked for the gas bond and nothing by the meter but ive ripped up a few boards upstairs and theres a bond above in the landing just above where the pipe goes down through the kitchen wall (chased in on hallway side) so...
As regards OSG on electrical apparatus distance from gas pipes.
I am running a gas bond on an outside wall. I was just going to p clip it close to the gas pipe itself.
Or cable tie it to the pipe??
No rules on distance when its a bonding conductor?? Thanks.
My engineer wants me to fit a gas bond from a local distribution board in an office but as we know it should be direct from the MET. What if the distribution board is moved or removed? Needless to say i wont be putting my name to it. This isnt right is it?? How can i make the best of a bad...
Hi got a problem with a PIR I am doing got small arcing when putting bond on to main gas pipe getting .5v when measured across pipe and bond had gas board out they proved that incoming pipe is in plastic disconnected all earths and still getting it discon earths and neutrals still getting it.
Hi All
I want to clear some bits up as i have been picked up on them and feel a bit stupid
1 ) To do my PFC test leaving all earths in block and all breakers on including the main switch i place an earth clip over the earth block and with that place the neutral probe.
I then place the live...
