Hi, I'm swooping the MR16 halogens for LED. The body of the new lamp is slightly bigger and I've managed to fit 5 of them but the 6th has beaten me. I can't shove it in far enough to get the retaining circlip to stay on. Any suggestions welcome. There is no obvious obstruction, I've cleaned the...
I'm about to change 40 x MR16/G5.3 fittings, do away with transformers and replace with mains GU10 Lamp holders double insulated and GU10 LEDs. I hoped to keep the existing Lamp fittings but was concerned as label states G5.3 12v 50w max.Is it safe to use GU10 LED in these fittings?
Hello,
Had a call-out today for a lady who was concerned about 'flashing' lights throughout her house. The 'flashing' happens about once every 10 minutes, and the lamp essentially goes off for a split second. The issue happens across both of the lighting circuits. I've checked at the board and...
I have 5 lights in my garden on the same circuit, they were all previously small industrial looking fluorescent tube lights. Last weekend I replaced two of them with standard halogen light fittings (Astro 0483 | Homefield 1 Light Outdoor Wall Light -...

Hi
A mate of mine wants me to change all his 12v downlights to 240v gu10 led's there are quite a few.He has bought the lamps and the gu10 lampholders
My plan is to just do away with the 12v transformer and wire the gu10 holder in the jb.
None of his downlights are fire rated/no hoods having...
Hi Guys
I'm completely sold on the financial and technical advantages of LED interior downlights over halogens but I need convincing about replacing outside halogen floods by the LED units.
First, is a 50 Watt LED floodlight technically equivalent to a 400 Watt halogen? A statement on a...
Ive got a client who wants to swap her existing down lights with LED downlights but when i showed her the price of them she started to change her mind...
So i was wondering if i could buy the cheaper gu10 halogen dl and just change the bulbs?
Could i do this off the mains or would they have...

Hi
I am working through my house, replacing 100 x 12V 50W MR16 halogens with 240V GU10 Megaman dimmable LEDs (previous owner installed the halogens - obviously not aware of electricity prices!).
I was told I needed to buy a special LED dimmer so I got the Aurora AU-DSP400X.
The existing...

12 x 50w Gu10s that have munched a couple of dimmers.(a silly load for a room that's abut 8 Msq)
I understand that with these halogens I may have to de rate the dimmer which would mean a 1200 watt dimmer (a bit pricy by the looks...
Hi there
Bought a flat and have three non-functioning MR16 50w halogens. I know at least one of these stopped working directly after water damage.
Tried changing the bulbs - no luck - so is the next most likely thing the transformers?
I had a look and think I can see the transformer as a...

Evening all,
Has anybody come across problems with GU10 halogens causing damage to PVC ceiling cladding? i.e. Yellowing of the finish, melting of the cladding etc?
I know this stuff is fire rated but can't seem to find much information on heat damage from lighting.
Was asked the question...
Just fitted four kosnic 5w dimmable led gu10 lamps in my bathroom switched via a dimming pull cord, however when dimming nothing happens for a few seconds then all of a sudden they dim right down to nothing very quickly!
Am I right in thinking there may not be enough load of the dimmer to dim...

are these worth getting? i'm looking for a basic ceiling light, nothing fancy, but needs to be low energy and come with decent bulbs that last.
have just fitted a 16W 2D CFL light (on my landing) and it gives off an awful white clinical light, and it flickers like mad on startup. so i'm going...
I've been asked by a customer to look at a lutron rania dimmer. The problem is when switched on the lights flash light a strobe light all over the room. Spoke to lutron they believe that it overcurrent so I split the room lighting and still have same problem. Anyone come across this before...
What would happen to a dimmer switch rated at 250w Running 6, 50 watt downlighters 230v?
I think they must of been 35w lamps but have been changed to 50w GU10 halogen ones
any help guys
Hi, i've just replaced some mr11 gu4 halogens with led lamps, they all work but ocassionally they flicker, there are 2 12v 105w transformers each with 5 lamps, only 1 set will flicker at any time so i'm ruling out a mains fault,
has anyone experienced anything similar? are there specific...

Hi guys, did an installation back in May which included a couple of 500W halogens overlooking a car park. One bulb blew after about 3 months and now both have blown again a couple of times. I tested the circuit when the first bulb blew quickly and all appeared ok, so just thought it was a duff...
