Hi guys.
I posted yesterday about a suspected faulty starter motor..
I've had the starter out and cleaned everything up and all seems to be working well.
Bench tests well everytime.
And at a price of $2200 for a new starter motor I'm going to look elsewhere for the problem.
My suspicion now lies...
Hi there…I’m hoping that someone may be able to help me identify an electrical part of my ignition. For reference I have a 1964 Toyota FJ40 with a V8 swap (1995 Chevy TBI) that I did not do. When I started it a couple of days ago the starter appeared to stay engaged and smoke started coming from...

Hi auto-leckies,

The photo shows a cooker hob ignition switch unit from a Neff/Bosch hob. One of the switches has failed. The issue was caused I think by ingress of liquid. I have dried the unit as well as I can. A replacement unit costs over £40. Has anyone ever opened one of these to repair it? I am reluctant...
I'm trying to test if there's voltage between my ignition and the solenoid. The starter won't crank or click so figured I'd start here but am not sure if I'm doing this correctly. I have a male/female connector from the ignition to the solenoid. I disconnected this, connected a probe to the...

Hi from the U.K.
I have a U.S.A. 120VAC 60Hz ignition coil (made by Carlin Combustion, model 45000 proX… the data sheet says the high voltage secondary coil is mid-point grounded).
I have been powering the coil from a U.K. 115VAC 50hz supply (my supply has one leg of the transformer grounded...
The voltage provided to a car's ignition coil whilst cranking is less than the nominal battery voltage of 12 volts due to the high current drain to the starter. That may be as low as 8 volts so the ignition coil is rated at 8 volts. Once the engine fires, the terminal voltage rises back to the...
Hi, I have encountered a weird problem on my Citroen C5 2003. I have installed two reversing lights on my car which is connected to the Rear foglights on the trailer contact. I have recently been experiencing that when the car is left for 3-4 days without driving it that the battery is too low...
