I have come across a double socket where the earth terminations aren't linked together - Is this illegal (and what regulation do i look at?) or is it allowed, and I just put the loop-earth in one termination and join the unearthed socket with a length of Earth conductor?
I'm just going through the schedule of inspections in preparation for my testing day tomorrow for my AM2.
I'm stuck with "presence of a linked main switch" is that a switch that disconnects line and neutral? Or a switch that disconnects more than one pole?
So, would a 3 pole (3 phase) isolator...
I have just been to look at a job were the builder has started the first fix as I was unable to be there. He has forgotten to put in a cable to the heat detector in the kitchen, partly my responsibility as I should have reminded him more fully.
My plan is to have it radio linked to the hallway...
Hello,
Moved into a new flat about 6 months ago, and now that the weather is getting warmer and we want to turn our heating off we've discovered a little hitch - it seems like domestic hot water and central heating aren't programmable separately. Specifically, if either the programmer or the...
Ive been looking at Approved document B (Fire safety), cause im not sure if a smoke alarm in recent extension needs to be linked to a additional heat alarm in the existing adjacent kitchen. The new extension is adjacent to the old kitchen and no doors separate the two rooms.
Approved document B...
Evening all..
I came across an interesting one today that I had not seen before.
I had a simple job of like for like replacement of some ceiling lights. I switched off the lighting circuit but the lights stated on, not too unusual you may think. I then switched off the rest of them one by one...
Domestic property (mine) having loft conversion.
So need linked fire alarms. One on each landing so 3 in all.
I'm going for the AICO Ei2110 multi sensor alarms.
Was looking at the radio link bases and then link them all up to a dedicated circuit to the CU
(not going to use lighting circuits)
So...
I have been asked to install mains interconnected smoke detectors in the entrance lobby of flats that are linked together with the common ways detectors. the common way detectors are already installed using the existing lighting circuit. Is it okay to use the supply from the detectors in the...

Hi
I have been doing my first intruder alarm its a honywell accenta gen4 mini. I am only using 2x pir sensors 1 panic alarm, 1 key pad, and 1 sounder. The first pir is above the entry/exit door so I am not using any door contacts. once I set the system the pir's are picking up movement but not...
So gets a shout today to check out a tripping circuit in a student halls we look after. Gets there and the staff are vague but somebody had been at it over the weekend and done a temp fix. Ok I says and off I trot to have a look. Gets the cover off the single phase split board and find 2 x 10mm...
Planning a re-wire of a very old thatched property.
All lighting will be via 2A sockets (except bathrooms) and some of the walls are just wooden planks (building control are very protective about them) and it wouldn't look nice clipping cables on the surface to a switch on a surface pattress...
Couldn't believe it the other day when we were having a quick walk around a guesthouse prior to an EICR scheduled for next week. Okay they weren't all electric, but 12 of them were! The property comprises of 11 ensuite bedrooms plus 3 bed owners accomodation and a small salon. Half of the...
Hi All,
Does a BSEN61008 RCD fulfill the requirements of 537.1.4?
There is no other means of isolation, the tails come from the meter straight to the single 100A 30mA RCD protecting all circuits via BSEN60898 MCB's in a TT installation.
Hi,
ok to follow on from my 12v relay question, I know how I want it all connected.
The next part of the jigsaw is that I need to mount everything on a dinrail.
i presume you can get these, what I need is din rail connectors where I can join say 6 together so that I have 6 common neutrals or...
