I recently purchased a rural property in Arizona. The property receives power from APS, the local electric utility. Power arrives from the utility meter, terminating to a 200AMP Main Service Panel in a Quonset Hut (think large garage). Inside the main panel is a 60AMP breaker that feeds a...
Hi all,
I am an experienced DIY electrician and I just wanted to ask a quick question about something since I am new to this forum, if it hasn’t really been answered anywhere else.
The question I have in mind is how come most electrical manufacturers still make single gang (25, 35mm etc) back...
9kw deep fryer, a cooker switch, stop working every few months,
I found the fryer use thin flex cable (see picture 3), it was burnt, the power supply cable are much thicker and it has no problem.
The fryer thin flex cable was just plugged into the switch, no lug,
Am I right? I guess it can be...
As the title suggests I have been tasked with finding something big and safe enough to hold a 5core 70mm cable with crimped lugs, it needs to be ip rated. The company are asking for it as the equipment they are connecting will need to be disconnected now and again. I was thinking maybe there...
The project specification says, "All compression connectors for 10mm2 (8 AWG) and larger conductors shall have a manufacturer's reference compression die number and conductor size printed or stamped on the connector".
Does Pin type lugs come with conductor size and die number stamped on the lugs?
Is it worth while re tapping lugs on back boxes? Just ordered a 3.5mm tapping tool as I had an issue at the weekend with the head of a screw shearing off and the resulting pain in the neck hassel of getting the remaining screw shaft out of the lug. This must be a very common problem. Is re...
Guys. I have a strange one here where I have some existing single boxes in the wall all plastered in, with pvc conduit installed, an absolute dream to re-wire, however these boxes do not have any lugs fitted. I seem to remember in my fading memory there was a "yoke" that could be fitted...
When I was doing my apprenticeship we used to use little clip on metal lugs that clipped on the outside of a 35mm backbox to prevent the box pulling out when side fixing. They were made by MK but I can't remember the part no. or find them anywhere. Can anyone remember the part no. of these?
Anyone know where i can get cable reducing lugs so i can terminate a 50mm swa into a 63a switchfuse?
maybe 50mm-25mm with the pin at the end not the actual lug for a bolt
many thanks
Morning comrades.
Is one obliged to change above back boxes for metal lugged versions. Obviously the plate screws won't be earthed but are insulated by plastic lugs. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Got caught out tonight got a call to fit 8 x flat plate sockets in place of standard white ones. No problem one of them jobs you can do without even thinking. So fitted them all got them all level looking nice polished fingerprints off - customer bound to be happy. Got a phone call couple of...
Can you use crimp lugs (ring or fork type yellow tipped ) on the earth cable when bonding main incoming water and gas pipes. I assume this is ok.
Also with respect to combi boilers. Do you still have to bond the main pipes under boiler in 4mm or is that now not required due to the dual RCD...
