Car stereo antenna cable, to crimp or solder?

Hi all, Hope this thread is still going. I had to cut my stereo antenna cable, so need to reconnect with another cable. I am unsure as the best way to do this as there seems to be differing views. Do i crimp the cable or solder? Guy at Jaycar told me to solder but lots of comments on google...

    Solder corrosion and possible causes?

Hello all, I'm new and apologize in advance if this is not the correct forum to post this type of situation. Attached are two photos of CPU boards from two different devices. One photo shows a section of the board where the solder points appear to have corroded away. The other photo shows a...

Bad solder joint on circuit board.

Hello all, I would greatly appreciate anyone's opinion this matter. Can this be repaired by simply resoldering? I'm concerned about the blackened area around the joint which looks to be burnt and also the wider discoloured area around the joint. Many thanks.

Has anyone tried using these solder crimps?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kuject-Connectors-Waterproof-Electrical-Automotive/dp/B073RMRCC3/ref=dp_prsubs_1?pd_rd_i=B073RMRCC3&psc=1 I've seen these style crimps for a while and none of them seem to have any proper spec's to suggest voltage and current rating - has anyone on here investigated?

    Solder Kit arrived today

Note - I am totally new to this and have not got a clue really! I bought a solder kit on ebay, partly because I need to solder 2 RCA plugs onto to cable, and partly because I felt that at the age of 39 years it is something I should own. I bought a cheap bit of kit for for £7.95 which has...

    Crimp or solder?

What's the preferred method of joining T+E for an inaccessible joint? Ring final circuit... Crimp and heat-shrink, or solder and heat-shrink? Do I need to take any extra precautions if I'm connecting a new colour cable to an old colour cable (apart from the sticker on the CU)?

    Can't solder...

I'm a beginner at soldering and have done a few solders on old circuit boards but half way through de-soldering a jack the solder wouldn't melt. I tried to clean the tip, add some flux and tinning but the solder now seems to run off the tip and won't stick . Thinking the cheap iron I bought...

Solder and shrink-fit T&E joints: Are they ‘Maintenance free’?

Are 1.0, 1.5 and 2.5mm2 T&E cable extensions, made by longitudinal twisting, generous soldering, shrink-fitting of each conductor, taping to match the sheath overall thickness, then overwrapping with two layers of shrink fit (all done nicely!) ‘maintenance-free’ joints and hence able to be...

Solder and shrink-fit is wall boxes. OK or not?

Good afternoon Is using twisted and soldered connections and shrink-fit OK for paralleling conductors within a wall box? I personally find this much tidier and visually satisfying than using ugly, awkward connector blocks, but is it in compliance with regulations? Enough loose cable is...
