Hello,
Looking for some advice following a botched 3 phase upgrade today. Some background:
Commercial unit originally fitted out (4 years ago) with single phase main supply feeding into 3 phase DB. 2nd DB run off breaker to service single phase requirements (small kitchenette, lighting...
Just for general info, I happened across this on-line tool this morning:
https://www.ssen.co.uk/our-services/tools-and-maps/demand-calculator/
Seems a handy way to estimate a property's peak demand and what the DNO might have assumed for overall network demand after diversity.
What a nightmare this has become most of yesterday and all morning to day trying to get an answer from them, I phoned Perth in the end got through to a call center in south Africa, and its went downhill from there, I just need tails connected to the meter the customer is pulling her hair out and...
I have been on hold for 45 minutes waiting to speak with someone in SSE Networks. All I want to find out is whether PME is available at a property I am going to do a CU change on next week. I am sure a lot of companies are using the pandemic as an excuse for crap customer service.
Does anyone...
Hi,
I'm looking to expand our current grid-tied solar from 2kw to 4kw, add some battery storage and do zero export.
Has anyone done this? Did SSE accept it?
Any advice on equipment?
Thanks all
I have a couple of questions about electricity meters, as supplied by SSE.
Mine has a fault.
The display is often blank and the meter continues to record power being used even when turned off at the main circuit breaker on the consumer unit.
I videoed it. That to me is 100% proof the meter is...
Was wondering if anyone knows anyone working for SSE in the Newcastle area or else where. Is it okay as an employer are do they expect the earth from you, with regards to high targets for fitting smart meters? Cheers.
Just now SSE meter installer rang to say he could not swap a tenant's meter because it had a "shared neutral".
The meter is a pre-pay key meter which was installed when a previous tenant didnt pay his bill. Landlord is trying to get it swapped for a normal credit meter for the new tenant...
Having a bit of a brain fart moment guys and would appreciate some input, please bare with me! The domestic economy rate I believe is the new name for economy 7. I am aware that the off-peak time for this tariff varies slightly region/weather depending.
Basing my question on a distant family...
Does anyone know if SSE still provide temporary seals for CU changes, and if so where I can get some from / what their procedure is?
I've found links to SSE information on threads in this forum and others, but none of the links seem to work anymore.
Thanks
Hi all,
Has anyone come across this? End client receives a notification from SSE that they are starting to "recover costs" of FiT payments by showing a separate line on bills reflecting a fixed rate of £0.243/kWh. Is this simply their way of splitting out/demonstrating their costs in...
Heres a picture i took on my phone at the beggining of this year on a job, what does everyone think?
Their orange cables supply three flats and a common close meter.
We took one week to install metal trunking for these to run along up the stairs, to prevent damage or tampering :disappointed:
Just picked up another batch of labels from SSE as per the link below.
Why can't other DNO's make life this easy? http://www.ssepd.co.uk/uploadedFiles/Controls/Lists/Connections/Electrical_contractors/RemovalAndReplacementOfCutOutSeals.pdf
Hadn't received my payment cheque so rang SSE to see if it was in hand. Was told Na! They have changed their payment dates because their computers couldn't handle the FIT change to 45p. Got to submit new reading by 5th June to get paid a month later.
Would have been nice to have been told. I...
SSE has lost an appeal into a conviction for tricking potential customers into switching from their existing energy firm.
SSE's sales agents had used misleading sales scripts when talking to people on their doorsteps, between September 2008 and July 2009.
SSE said it was "disappointed" with...
I have a quote which I would like to go ahead with, but with the proposed cut off with fits, will the below system have any problems with SSE DNO and how would I complete the application form to ensure no problems as there is no space to state two invertors. or would it be safer to reduce by...
Hi, someone asked what the contact details were for SSE but i cant find it anywhere now!
they are
[email protected]
or
[email protected]
Send inverter g83 certificate, circuit diagram and the
attached feed in tarriff aplication form
hope this finds who needs it!!

Good day folks - I introduce myself as a manager for meter installers (3 phase and whole current) as well as Data Readers for the above utility. I regularly install new meters myself and absolutely love it. MOCOPA authorised only and do not have much more electrical experience. This may change...
Finally some good news from the DNO, SSE are stopping charging for network assessments unless there are more than 6 installations at one site or over 4kWp on one phase. We will still have to pre-apply though if over 3.7kW.
Here's the text of their email:
