Is 29/30 years age too late to start an sparky apprenticeship?

Hi all. Apologies if this is a dumb question but I am wondering if anyone can confirm any success stories of someone who got into the trade at late 20’s/early 30’s? Long story short, I’ve recently come out of the forces and after a big chat with mates in different trades, they’ve suggested I...

Is anything special about motor start capacitors?

My dishwasher was failing, and I quickly found the problem was a failing capacitor on the circulation pump. Marked as 2.5uF 400V. No problem, except not easily found locally. So I rummage around and find an old fluorescent lamp with a power-factor correction capacitor of the right value. Well...

Can i connect a relay to a jump start terminal.

I am trying to add additional exterior lights to me car. The battery is located to the rear of the car, rather than trailing wires right through the car. Can I wire the relay into the jump start terminals that are present in the engine bay? Would this still provide power for this?

Lights start off dim then flicker

I wire my basement and I have a room where the lights come on but are dim, they eventually get to full strength. Any thoughts on why this one room would do that. It is set up with 8 canister lights in the ceiling on a regular switch. no dimmer.

Trunking mess - where to start!

It's not that often I stare stupidly at something for 5 minutes and can't work out where to start, but.... The horizontal and lower vertical trunking aren't actually connected together or bonded. The upper vertical is cable tied to some SWA and flaps in the wind. Singles are nicely tensioned...
