A few 30mA RCBO's that i have tested recently are tripping lower at x1 than they are at x5, e.g 13.1 x1 13.8 x5, I know both these results comply but im curious does any one know why the 1 times trip is lower than 5?

Could anyone confirm if we test 100mA RCD's at x5?
There is a lot of information on the web that says you only test at x1 but Table 3a in appendix 3 clearly shows a max disconnection time for a 100mA RCD at x5 to be 40ms.

I am testing a new build installation of 90 flats all the flats have 1 16a Rcbo when I test the tripping times I get a higher reading at 5x than 1x on all 90 flats they r all wylex can anyone help me on this matter

I understand that when carrying out RCD testing an RCD should trip within 300ms at 1x and 40ms at 5x but is it common that on occasions for the RCD to trip quicker at 1x than 5x. I never had it occur personally.

After having the shower circuit upgraded to 10mm cable, new shower and pull switch the tripping times recorded for the existing rcd are as follows.

I always been told that an 30m/A RCD should trip within 200m/s (x1) and 40m/s (x5). But something iv never taken much notice of before is on test sheet the maximum disconnection time of a circuit less than 32A is 0.4. So....which is it? within 0.4 or within 200m/s????
Does anyone know what the tripping times for an Wylex bs 4293 100ma type s RCD are? Ive been searching the net and just keep getting more and more confused about this i know an bs6009/9 should trip within 130ms-500ms but cant make headway for the tripping times for an older bs4293 rcd.

Also if doing a ramp test that should trip in?
Finally, as I think the one I tested is faulty, any ideas where I could get another from?

I understand the concept behind touch contact of 50v and the above 1666 ohms. But when physically testing with 17th ed dilog and testing a TT system 30mA RCD. At 1x and 5X what reading would you see on your meter? or would you just test the mechanical aspect...
