Background
A pool installation uses two single phase pumps to circulate the water (through a boiler, and filtering, dosing etc). The pumps are controlled via contactors in the pump house, plus a remote emergency stop close to the pool. The location is somewhat rural, and prone to power cuts...
Hi everyone,
For a UPS serving as the secondary supply for life safety loads in a residential building (such as a fire fighting lift and sprinkler pump), would a dual input be required as shown in the photo below, or is a single feed sufficient?
Customer has asked if I can source an ups or battery power pack to run their boiler if they have a powercut.
The powercut could last 3-5 days if previous ones are anything to go by!
Most advertise that they’re just suitable for 10 minutes- enough time to save documents and shut down the pcs...
Hi Everyone
I am looking for some assistance with my NVQ 2357-99 experienced workers portfolio in regards to Job write ups. In all honesty I don't know where to start I've uploaded evidence for (Install 1), now the assessor has asked for a Job write up for submitted evidence.
Unfortunately...
Hi All, Thankyou in advance for your help
I have a block of 5 stories with a staircase timer already installed in a 3 wire connection setup.
I am trying to setup a UPS to supply the lights in the common areas so that it acts as an Emergency Lighting setup - when power fails the lights still...
Would a small UPS, running on batteries, be a suitably stable 230v 50hz supply while I do some tinkering with the loop calibration settings on an old Robin 1610?
Any better idea's that don't cost a lot?
This is entirely a hobby project and not worth investing in lots of equipment for,.
My copy...
When I use certain outlets in my home, while the power is not out, it drains the UPS battery and triggers the dead battery alarm on the UPS system. Why is it not only using the power from the grid until the power is out and then the UPS system? Context: I live in Pakistan and can guide an...
Hi all,
I've just installed an APC 6KVA SRT6KRMXLI.
As a computer network engineer and electrician, I was a bit baffled by the 35mm gland that came with this.
The hole in the gland is so large that your 4mm2 3-core flex that's standard on Comnando leads is not even close enough to go filling...
Hi chaps
Customer has asked me about installing a mains supply to a 16amp UPS on their server.
The UPS hasn’t come with a power cord, the customer has searched Amazon for a 16Amp IEC C19 lead which comes with a 13Amp plug top, should it be supplied directly to the CU on a 16amp RCBO on a...
Hi all,
Will a 3000VA 1800Watts UPS that usually has 4 12v9AH batteries be able to run a single 12v 100AH battery instead? (preferably lithium)
I know it won't fit in the existing unit, but will it actually charge the battery and function correctly?
This is the Takealot link for the unit in...
I'm hoping someone can sanity check or correct my thinking. I have a very old UPS, it's showing a power factor on the front display of 0.1
We put a clamp meter on the 3 incomers which all read 36 Amps. the 3 outgoing legs are showing 12, 6 and 4 Amps
That's 108 Amps in and 22 Amps out, I'm...

I live in the Philippines where the power is bad, we have constant outages and when it does work the voltage ranges from 160-255v and the hz ranges from 52-65.
I had a UPS which I had replaced the battery with a bigger one but it finally blew up and now I have nothing as a backup and before I...

I used a Contactor instead of an ATS to connect 2 power sources (main and ups) for power redundancy and the output is connect to a Dell server. i.e, if main power is lost contactor will changeover to ups power and there should be continuous power supply for the dell server…

Hi All
Had an enquiry about installing a generator fed UPS to a house. I have a minimal amount of experience with UPS but am certainly no expert, the ones I've been involved with were manual changeover and didn't have anything attached (generator was to be hired in the event of a failure)...
I'm going to need to make some 'temporary' UPS systems next year - I'll have to find possibly some rack mount units that can live in an outdoor cabinet, probably I guess with a fan involved too for ventilation. Only need to be 3kVA, nothing 'clever', no computers to link to or anything like...
Hi all,
I am looking for battery/UPS system to install in my home, so I have power in sockets in the rooms when mains AC is off.

Dear Forum,
I am hoping you can help as not only have I already had a qualified electrician out who couldn't find the problem, I've put in hours of research myself so far and still not entirely sure what the solution should be.
I work from home and have a number of APC Back-UPS 850 UPS devices...
So looking at a system that utilises a couple of sizable UPS unit to supply various equipment through a site. The UPS is static with 3 phase output, both units have an input switchboard and output switchboard with a castell interlock so that the bypass can not be switched in unless the UPs...
