hi guys, just to confirm the max disconnection time for all equipment is now 0.4s to 17th edtion???

used to be 5 seconds for fixed equipment and 0.4 for portable.

but now the voltahe has been dropped i believe these new readings come into play.

however do these need to have rcbo to comply with these readings?

thanks

I asked the very same question to my elecsa inspector just two days ago- and no, fixed equiptment and lighting still 5 secs disconnection time, as for rcbo depends on where the circuit is, what it is and how its installed, so not always just 99% of the time in a domestic situation.

You are all having a laugh surely?

I would (with the exception of Mr M Spark) suggest you all read the book you as electricians should have & possibly think of retraining?

All final circuits on TN systems with a rating not exceeding 32A have a disconnection time of 0.4s

Circuits exceeding 32A or distribution circuits can have a disconnection time of 5s

TT sytem 0.2s

Use of rcd / rcbo /rccb LOOK IN YOU BOOK you should know this any way.

I dispare
