...please go easy on me I am new to this :D! I have just passed my MCS and am actively pricing my first 2 jobs. I'm doing a bit of research before I appear before the enquirers. Both systems are fairly large for domestic; 3kw and 7.5kw. I haven't even started looking at the larger one. My question is whether the experienced installer ever uses a rough rule of thumb (providing calcs are met etc) for the maximum voltages they're happy to work with on a roof. when on my PV course (absolutely uselss) the tutor almost warned us off using 1 string for high voltages. 3.3kw onto 1 inverter seems a lot to me and a lot to lose should there be problems with a single inverter. using additional strings obviously has significant cost implications too. I'm considering 12 Sanyo 250 to a Sunny Boy 3000HF. Thanks

Hi jjnr78. Go on to the sma web site and down load sunny design 2, this will help you out loads to do all the calcs, and it wont let you make mistakes matching string sizes to inverters.
