I have never used a scale ruler before I brought one for this test the scale is at 1:50.

Task 2: from the drawing using cable routes you have shown in task 1, calculate the amount of cable required for the ring main installation, you need to consult the scale on your drawing to calculate this.

I think I have the idea that for every measurement you get on the ruler, it's x50 In reality? I will attach a picture of the drawing and of the scale ruler.

Yes you are correct, one thing to ensure is that when you print the drawing off is that you print it on the correct size paper or the scale will be wrong.
So it may only be 1:50 when printed at A4 for example.
One way as a rough check is to measure a known dimension to check the scale.

Thank you Andy, was just checking for reassurance, was throwing me abit and will do nice one

Just measure on the diagram with the scale ruler as if you were measuring in reality, the reading on the ruler will be the real life size value.
In practice the actual size of the diagram is 50x smaller than reality, similarly the readings on the 1:50 scale on the ruler are 50x smaller.
In the picture below the physical measurement of the door opening on the diagram (if printed to scale) will be about 1.52 cm but the ruler gives a reading of 0.76m (1.52x50=76 cm=0.76 m).
Based on the unwarranted assumption the doorway is a standard door width

Wow, there is so much information to take in on the course! That being said I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
