I am using 16 x 245w REC panels and a 3.6 Fronius inverter.

Max PPT voltage for the Fronius is 700V and the voc for the panels is 37.2V (x 16 = 595.2V)

So no problem to have it on 1 string.

Orientation and pitch exactly the same for all panels,

Min PPT 350V (8 x 37.2V = 297.6V). Does this mean I cant do it on 2 Strings?

I usually use Aurora Powerone and split it in 2 but can't get any.

Any suggestions as what would be best would be appreciated.

Thanks

yes, but as above, the fronius can take 16 panels on one string, thats it's advantage.
There is no advantage in this scenarion of doing two strings. There is a stron disadvantage in doing 2 in that you may not generate enough start up voltage.

Your answer is in your original question

I would do it as one.

Some inverters will not take more than 10 panels on one string u would need two strings on 16 panels

The number of panels is irrelevant. It is the voltage and current of the panels that is important. You could fit 100 panels on a string if the voltage and current ratings allowed it.
