Just completing a job number 2 for my NICEIC assessment. First job was a complete re-wire on barn conversion. Trouble is job is right in the middle of no where! So going to do a job at my house which is 29 minutes away. Due to only renting the house ive decided to install a socket under the CU on its own circuit. This means that it comes under notifiable work and can be used for my assessment. Do you think the assesor will have issue with this? I cant see it would be an issue seen as the other job is a massive install, its the same procedures for testing one socket as it is for 10 and any other tests he would like me to carry out can be done on an existing circuit.

Only bummer is paying building control ÂŁ210 on one socket!

Cheers

I thought it was one major one minor aswell until someone told me otherwise. Phoned NIC helpline and they said it has to be 2 notifiable works, which if I remember right installing an additional socket, unless its in a kitchen, does not come under notifiable works, will have to have a quick read into this as I may be wrong.

Plus theres a spare 16A mcb and a spare way at the CU just waiting to be joined in holy matrimony :earmuffs:

But from your responses im pretty confident it wont be an issue

Thanks for the help

Really? That was the first thing they asked me on the phone and when I tod them I hadnt they said I had to contact building control and get it signed off. Could of just said yes but knowing my luck the assesor would pick up on it and that would be another ÂŁ360? down the drain. In a way wish I had gone with elecsa but had already paid the money so thought it would be more hassle trying to get the money back than its worth.
