Hi all, would you mind helping me with an installation. Only done a few so quite new to it.
I've surveyed a house with 2 roofs, one SE and one SW. I can get 6 panels on one and 4 on the other in landscape (235w REC).
would 2 inverters be best in this situation?

I've had a play with the sunny design software and the SB1200 won't allow less than 5 of these panels without yield loss, so I was thinking of splitting it 5 and 5 but still having 6 on one roof and 4 on the other, would this be wise, or are there any alternatives?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I'm new to this too, and using this site to gain experience overcoming similar situations.

Could you not use 1 inverter with 2 strings consisting of 3 panels on one roof and 2 on the other. This would then give similar performance per string providing none of the panels were affected by shade at any point?

More of a question than suggestion as I don't feel experienced enough to be able to comment in that respect.

Hi, dude you need to be looking for either an inverter with duel mpp or two samll inverters, don't do the five and five combo because one of the panels will be pointing in the wrong direction compared to the others. Think of it as two systems. An inverter with duel mpp is like two inverters in one. The panels in each array need to be all facing the same direction. Nice idea, but not right thing to do.

Thanks for clearing that up dansk, as I say I have only just started fitting P.V systems which have been designed for the company I work for, so no involvement in the design/layout process myself.

Sambotc, it was aimed at the op, but I guess it sort of the same for you. Dont be afraid to ask, that's what the forum is for.

The trouble will be finding a duel inverter that small, will prob have to settle for two inverters

Thanks for replies. All very helpful. MEP Elec, will a mastervolt work in conjunction with a sb1200?

Still struggling to find an inverter for the 4 panel roof. If the whole system was on on inverter how would that effect the results/yield?

The 4 panels on the small roof will be 235, so 940 in total. The sb1200 is too big but the mastervolts are too small, what about 2 mastervolts? 2 panels supplying each and a sb1200 for the 6 panels on the other roof? 3 inverters in total?

Don't forget to put in seperate MCB's for each inverter.
