Hi Folks,
we building 6 storey block of flats and need a quite few 30 units of 10kva transformers connecting up to the mains. At the moment we have five trafo on 32A type C braker and that gives us a proper headache with its nusianse tripping, even without any load. Can anybody tell us how many maximum trafo we can have on one 32A breaker?
Many Thanks in advance.

having 10kva transformers on a 32a type c breaker will invariably cause nuisance tripping, as a guide type c mcb's allow for inrush on motors or small transformers but a type d would be better for the inrush of a large 110 transformer, if more than one is plugged into the ring then i suggest switching the transformers on one at a time as the combined inrush of more than one trnsformer would be a feat for even a type d breaker.
Once you've switched each transformer on seperately the no' allowed on a 32a breaker is all dependent on the load they demand as unloaded they use little current while energised.

I seem to remember from my college days that the the transformer VA rating is divided by the secondry windings, as a rule of thumb but there is a mathmatical way of working it out but i cant rember it.
so 10,000/240=41.6 amps
