Hi All,
I've just had my first commercial system quote for a 40 panel 10kWp system accepted. I was told by my supplier/designer that as long as I kept it beneath 16A per phase, over 3 phases that it was still a G83 application and that I did not need permission from the DNO. Is this the case?
I'm also wondering about planning permission. It is on a slight sloped (so not a flat roof!) sheet metal profiled roof. The panels will be at 15 degrees and will hardly be visible from the road. Any ideas?
I know it is needed for a domestic flat/felt roof but this is neither domestic nor a flat roof.
Thanks in advance...

Jonny

permitted up to 16amps per phase on g83, so 11kW if split equally between phases.

1m gap around the edge of roof, and max 1m from roof surface is permitted development requirements for non domestic in england and wales as long as it's not a listed building or anything silly.

Thanks mate, panels will be at 15 degrees so should not be higher than 1m. Can I just notify it as normal when install is done then? Might not be a full metre at the front edge but there is a parapet wall so shouldnt really be noticeable. Thanks again...

yep, just do the notification as standard within 28 days.

main difference is going to be the EPC and structural survey, which will usually cost more to get produced, so don't forget about that in your pricing.

I have been dealing directly with the rail/mounting manufacturers and they carried out the survey and have designed the mounting kit for me so no worries about the structural survey. I am getting the client to sort the EPC himself with same bloke that did his house that we fitted solar PV onto a couple of weeks ago.
Fingers crossed!!

You may need to do a building notice, check with the labc or speak to the structural guy
