Hello folks I have to fit an electric shower in a house that has an old wylex domino style board but no room for a plug in MCB. The house has an electricity meter on the meter tails thats been installed with a Henly block which has a spare slot for live and neutral.

Can I go into this with 10mm twin and earth earth at the bain earth terminal and then straight up to the MCB and RCD Shower consumer unit?

I've recomended the new CU but at the moment I need to acheive power to the shower and automatic disconection of supply as the bathroom is being fitted now.

Thanks for any help you can give.

You should be wiring out of the Henly's with tails rated for the header fuse (Most sparks opt for 25mm)

If you are pushed for time by all means first fix the wiring to the shower but DO NOT second fix the cables straight into the henly blocks.

The tails can be rated smaller than the main cut out due to the down stream fusing factor ie the 40/50 MCB in the shower board, don't overlook the fact when using 'henly blocks' you need to provide a single point of isolation for the installation (MAIN SWITCH) not one on each board

Hope this helps
