been asked to connect up a cooker and found out it was 11.4kw 49amps, the supply cable only being 6mm 32amps.

using diversity what would this come to.

16 meters run
under floor boards and then in the wall.

no socket outlet on it. so the 6mm can be used not really clear on the divercity thing.

i thought that you had to allow for the worst case being 11.4kw

Hi, have also been asked to put cable in for a 11.4kw cooker. The 10mm cable will have to be run in mini trunking or conduit as there is no access between the ceiling & above rooms to install cable. The only possible way is to run it behind coving for about a 3mtr run which is thru another room to the CU which I'm not really happy about doing. I'm led to believe that the current 6mm cable does this at present. It doesn't sound right to me, but I've seen some install post's which I wouldn't do, so any feedback would be appreciated

your post is a bit vague. as i understand it, the cooker is fed with an existing 6mm. on a 32A MCB that will handle any cooker up to 15kW. think diversity.
