Just read an article in the Newspaper; "11kV zap dad saved by watch"
It states that a cable jointer was wiring a switch (?)(probably a main isolator) when he was hit by a surge (!) & burst into flames:eek: , seems he was saved by his watch which earthed onto a junction box so he didn't receive the current across his vital organs; i.e. heart, although he did receive burns requiring extensive plastic surgery.

Now; is it me but, what the hell was he doing working live around 11kV?:eek: Hopefully it wasn't his fault & he will get a small fortune in compensation.

AP who wrote the switching schedule and the AP who countersigned it are in for a slight bit of trouble with the HSE by the sounds of things

It has to be his own fault as he didnt confirm it wasnt live nor did he isolate and lock off with a system that cant be accidently unlocked by someone else using a similar key etc and the watch saved him is bull...., luck saved him by the sounds of it the watch was the exit but what was the entry point, had it not been his watch his arm would have earth anyway with similar results.
As nasty as it sounds if he killed himself hes only himself to blame, the headlines should have read My stupidty nearly killed me!

I hate to be harsh in here but I deal with meduim and high voltage system pretty often and that person I don't know why he is lucky he did not get killed by 11KV system and there is not much room for error at all.

What that person working on like TV repair or oil burner ingitor or actual power system ? those are little variation on answer if it was actual power system he should be pretty much done history with it.

Sure I got hit by 24 KV couple time you will know how far you can go before you will get hit with it.

Merci.
Marc
