12v-230v Pure Sine wave Power Inverter

Any recommendations? Looking at 1 KW output, something I can run an sds off, travel kettle etc. Looked at Sterling units but they are big £££. There are so many brands out there but not too many reviews.

Is it possible to get a reliable, mid quality one for £300 or less?

The only inverters I have used regularly are Victron. They really are well made, reliable and they're scaleable. If you buy a 1kw unit and later find you need 2 kw you can purchase a second 1 kw unit and they function together as a 2kw. They arealso designed to utilise multiple input power sources such as pv panels, wind turbines as well as battery.

They're pretty expensive where I am but I'm not sure about the pricing in the UK.

think they maybe slightly outside of the budget. The next one down In their range is only rated at 700w continuous output, can't for the life of my remember what the draw is for a travel kettle

Yep they're not cheap but you do get what you pay for. The multiplus range has a built in charger for the batteries which you would need to buy separately if you buy just an inverter, this might help you offset the higher purchase price.

I would shop around for locally available units that are similar using the specs in the manual I linked as a reference. It's been a couple of years since I've specified this type of equipment, I'm sure you'll find an Eastern block product at a considerably lower price.
