Hi lads
So....was working in a top floor flat the other day built in '98 and I noticed the incomer was a 16mm SWA. I went down to the meter cupboard on the groundfloor and found it protected by a 100 amp switchfuse.
Now in the book if I remember rightly for a 70 degree 16mm SWA ref meth C the max is around 87 whereas for a 90 degree cable its 101 or something.
Either way I thought they were cutting it a bit fine.
If it is an error..its a pretty F'ing major error for a company wiring new build blocks of flats.
My questions are
Have the current capacity of cables in BS7671 been modified since '98?
How am I supposed to know if its a 70 or a 90?
If it is inadequate...would you demand the fuse downrated/cable uprated before carrying out work?
Already done the job so just an afterthought really...just wondered what you guys thought
