16th / 17th edition change over

Hello everyone this is my first post.

Can anyone explain how the change over from the 16th to the 17th edition works, do you have to use the 17th edition for all new installations now? is there a cut of point when the 16th edition is no longer relevant?
Any information will be welcome.

All 17th edition now, since July 2008 all installs must now comply

Should have also said that jobs designed before the changeover and already running could be finished off under the 16th but you may be pushing your luck now
