Hi All,
For domestic CU replacements, especially small 6 way boards, do we have to fit Dual RCD boards or can we use single RCD boards and still comply with the regs? The problem I am finding (and presumably a lot of you out there) is finding a sutible 'SMALL' replacement board with dual rcd protection for board replacements with only 5 or 6 ways. Any assistance always greatly appriciated.:(

What kind of board is it.Will a bigger board not fit.You wont find a board that small with dual RCD protection.Smallest i've seen is 10 way.Can you not just use a smaller board and RCBO the sockets with MCB for the rest

You can not just use RCD to protect the whole installation, you have to provide discrimation between the circuits so if one circuit has a fault it does'nt trip all the others, as said alreay you will need to protct the sockets outlets, you only do not need to protect the socket if they are under the supervision of a skilled or insturcted person. also you need to protect all cables buried in the walls less than 50mm with a 30ma RCD unless they are burried more than 50mm witch normal will damage the structure of the building or thw cables are in an earthed matalic wring system ie steel conduit, fp200 is not allowed and swa is not practiacble, your best way to do it is just use RCBO on all circuits
Hope this helps
AJ
