Had the 1 day pleasure last week. Spent about 9 hours going through all the updates because the exam is just on the updates......WRONG....... got 3 questions from the updates and 27 were from the 16th edition, ah well dont need to be mind numbed again for a year or 10 i hope. Also found out it is likely that the 17th BRB and OSG are to be reprinted in 2011/12, another fortune to pay out again:mad:.........Anyone for plastering:D

Cheers..........Howard

I doubt you'll need to purchase the new editions. I would imagine that the amendments will be available from the IEE site.

first thing the tutor asked us at the upgrade course was" why do you think the Iet has introduced the 17th edition " To make more money !!" was the resounding reply

Hi,
I was under the impression it is an "open book" exam, meaning you take it in with you, get asked questions, consult the book, make your now informed answer. I haven't taken this yet, maybe wrong, but this is what I was lead to believe, the exam is to show your ability to navigate and consult the reg book for the regulations, not know them all off by heart?

where did you do the update

York College, ÂŁ125 all in but you need to have your own books. They run the course on demand and if i recall he said he was doing another around the 19th July. There are no course dates listed so you need to ring up and enquire. The college is very easy to find just fall off the A64 York West A1036 i think, and you are in the Car Park more or less. Its facilities are great as well lots of eating places, and some stunning gash knocking about:D Beware if you go there in a van, they have overhead barriers at 2m and my Connect just got through with a couple of inch to spare and there are no other parking arrangements so go in a car.

Cheers.........Howard;)

cheers howard it`s for a mate of mine. will pass the details on. 125 think that`s the cheapest i have seen. i just did the exam for mine in wakie for 55 quid.

You are spot on with your impression mate, that is exactly how it works.
