Hi just need to no if any body else has had any probs with jib reconising 17th edition sparks,
i have been sparking no for 31 years had only my first 2 years in 1979 then went into tv and film.so did not do my last year.any way went back to collage nite school in sep 2007 and found out i had to start again 3 years of night school.ok did it .i did ask in sep/oct 2007 will we be 17th editon sparks in 2010 when we pass out they got back to me and said yes, though it does not start untill jan 2008 we will be teaching from the red bs7671;2008 book.and all tests will be upto 17th regs, i had to do my nvq3 as well which was 17th standard. Then when i go for my jib card three years later i find out that i have to pay more money to sit 30 multi question just to get 17th statas.the collage is looking into this but lets see what they come up with a!Any body got anything that might frow some light on this .

many thanks jonsey.

The 2330 L3 teaches you all about the regs however you need to sit the 2382-20 exam to obtain the qualification. It's a little silly as if you can pass the 2330 L3 the update exam is simple but rules are rules i'm afraid. You do have a valid point though.

Installations designed after July 2008 had to be to 17th Edition. From January 2008 they could be to either 16th or 17th. It never became a legal requirement because it is a non-statutory document.
