Hello all, Just joined the forum having read some very interesting topics noteably the SKY TV section. I am currently employed as an electrical engineer within the food production industry and completed my 17th edition 1n 2008.

Has any one heard when the 18th edition will be introduced?

Hello mate!
They just introduced the ammendments of 17th edition...
Personaly I belive they will introduce the 18th edition when solar panel and electric cars will be more developed, or BMS system. I don't think is something else to be added to 17th edition. Maybe some more details about harmonizing old with new colour wire conductors.

Arround summer 2015. By then diesel and petrol will double as costs, energy bills will double as well, so probably solar and electric cars will be the solution. Will see.

On average each amendment of BS7671 lasts approximately 2.5 years, so if this trend continues we should expect the 18th Edition by 2020. Technology and regulation has been advancing in pace over the last 30 years it is quite possible this edition may come some years earlier than predicted.

Hi Mark, as my work colleges are updating at present to the 17th edition which I undertook in 2008, I did not want to pass up the opportunity to take the next edition, if it was on its way to print? Cheers!

18th edition will probably feature greater on micro generation, full RCBO usage, electric vehicles and more colourful pictures and friendly cartoon characters to cater for the dumbing down of the industry ;)
