Discuss 18th Exam question in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I just had a quick google as i didnt recognise it either.

Several sources say it may be a typo on the question paper, as AC... refers to altitude, and would be followed by a number.
Or it means Asbestos Containing Material... nothing you should be involved in.

one question asks about the IP for external influence code ACM.
I can't find that code in appendix 5 - any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum mate.
As above, is seems to be a typo.

Hi guys,
Just as an introduction, I have taught the 18th edition regs courses for some time now, and I always warn my learners about getting info from the net. That particular question comes from djtelectraining.co.uk and is the first question on their mock paper.
The warning signs are:
At the top it says this is for Examination 2382-10. This is NOT the 18th exam. The 18th exam is 2382-18 so guessing Q1 is simply a typo. But more worrying is Q5. If you are using this mock paper for revision. It asks for the max Zs for a 10A type C breaker and gives the answer as 2.3 ohms. Well 2.3 ohms may well have been the answer before C min was introduced but in accordance to 18th edition it is 2.19 ohms. (straight from the regs book) where 2.3 ohms is an old reference. before the values were all multiplied by 0.95. (same for Zs questions Q15 and Q18) Also Q6. again for reference I do some work for an exam board, and question writers would not be allowed to use a current manufacterer's name in one of our questions. So DeWalt would not be as realistic answer even if it is used as a "distractor". So [please be careful when relying on questions that are not mock or revision papers foor 2382-18. Have not gone any deeper into this paper.
Good luck with the real exam. Best revision in my opinion for 2382-18 exam is download the IET app IET wiring regulations 18th edition), and pay the very small fee to unlock all the sections and you will have good revision material

@jc_150 Can you link to the relevant apps? I'm assuming it's the "IET Wiring regulations lite" by Webrich Software (Play Store).

Are these official? I can't find any information on apps on the IET website.
Hi,
Yes you are correct, the app I am referring to is the Webrich software. I only have an android device, so from the play store just type in IET Wiring Regulations, an it is the one with the Yellow square box with IET wiring Regulations 18th edition written on the front. I was not indicating that it was endorsed by the IET, I was suggesting it is a great app for revision for the C&G IET 18th edition regs exam. Many of my learners think it is a great resource. The paid version releases the locked sections which will be greyed out unless it is bought. Not sure of the current price, but would guess it is still under a tenner. There is no greater feedback than what the learners are saying. There is also in the public domain on the C&G website the course handbook which will tell learners how many questions from each part of the regs book are likely to be in the real exam, so one could make mock exams from the app by answering the same amount of questions from each part to make up lots of 60 question mocks. Let me know if you need any more information regarding 18th exam that I may know.
