2 x 4kW strings on farm.

Both inverters gonna be fitted in an open barn (fronius ig plus) One is going to a holiday cottage (58m overhead run) and the other to the house (55m overhead run).


I`m thinking 4mm cable for each due to voltage drop.


Cause its a farm and open barn what ya think on the height of the inverters and isolators (livestock and all that)

I'm thinking if you use 4mm cable you will be doing the job twice. Last 60m run I did was in 16mm.

Recently did a 4kw ground mounted system in a paddock, 60m run, ran it in 6mm armoured!

6mm is undersized over that distance (last 4kW I did was a 25m run and 6mm was borderline then from memory). You're looking at 10mm at least. Do you volt drop calcs.

IR tested out fine, RCD within times, ZS well within limits.Didn't see any need to upgrade.

Inverter changed it to 242V, no problem.(inverter mounted beneath panels not inside property)End of the day, customers own electricians pulled in the cable before hand so had to work with it, generation meter flashing away.

If its over 40 m, always bump up the size of the cable otherwise the volt drop will be too large
