hi, will 2 x 250w metal halide lights be ok on a 6amp rcbo, i was hoping to use hager as the rest of the board was that and my suppliers only do type b will this be ok or will i need to source a 'c'

Ignore what your calculations tell you that is for cable calcs and switching size etc, you must obtain manufacturers recommendation when having multiple discharge lamps and depending what kind and size depends what they will recommend.
The answer to the above is a 10amp type (c) anything less is subject to nuisence tripping on start-up alternatively a 6amp type (d).

The best thing you can do is get hold of the product list book for each brand of breaker you use as these have the technical data in the back which has all this in it from motor to lighting - contactors to mcb ratings.
