hello, i have 2330 205-206 comming up now, i know the practical is piece of straight trunking with plastic conduit for 2way lighting circuit and id assume a ring circuit taped off trunking and swa from 1 board too another. seem straight forward.

does anyone have have any mock tests or past papers for these? which id appreciate.
also we learnt how to terminate pyro cable which i know is not part of the assessment. does anyone ever use this as seems to be very time consuming... just asking.... any other tips and links would be good thanks.

wilder about???????

Hmm. when I did my 205-206 I am sure It was steel conduit? And that wasnt that long ago!
Have used pyro before but its use is pretty limited now, all fire alarms are done in FP200, it is used in a lot of churches, all petrol stations and some other EX areas but its a dying art. oNce you get used to it you can do an end in 5 mins!

You boys wont even have to do it on your AM2 now.

Good luck mate.

Little tip for you to save time and frustration.

When you are doing the small run of swa from "main isolation box" to the c/u, measure as close as possible. If you don't get the correct length, if your out by a few mil connect the swa to your c/u and then take the mains box off the wall to the correct height for your length of swa then re-attach the box.

Nothing in the exam to say you can't do it ;).

Make sure the examiner can identify every cable in the c/u just by looking at them and make sure the c/u is tidy and not a rats nest with each L, N and cpc in the correct term in the numbered bar.

Tug test each terminal, make sure that everything is perfectly vertical or horizontal. All clips are 30cm apart. Each accessory use min two screws to fix to the wall and that they are secure. Don't put light switches up side down. Leave enough wire in the back boxes but not too much. Follow the measurement details on the diagram.

Don't know what they want now but when I did it.

Swa to c/u.
1 x rmf.
1 x raidial.
1 x one way lights.
1 x two way lights (or intimate, can't remember)

Using a combination of t+e, singles and mims (might have been a small piece of fp200 as well). Clipped direct, pvc conduit and steel conduit.

Good luck, take your time and do it right.

One last thing, check all lug nuts are ok before fitting. Saves pulling them off the conduit if the college ones are knackerd.

cheeers i thought steel conduit but he said no, fp200 we have covered in practicals and bending cable tray and hopefully doin a s plan heating system before we finish..

and regards to assesment we have to plan to the the t, right down to every last bolt

remember my 206 was some pvc conduit, swa as incoming a ring in the pvc and a ring in some metal conduit that was already put up for us.
some of the lads who hadnt worked before managed to do quite badly and had a hard time. guy next to me failed 1/2 threw the exam as he wired his ring in 1.5
