Having trouble with a isolator switch.

Fitted 20A D.P isolator switch in a shower circuit and the switch has failed. This is the second one I've fitted of the same type as the first failed aswell.
Shower is 8Kw. Should this happen, or should i have fitted 45A.

Any ideas,
Thanks.

you have to consider your supply voltage, from your supply voltage you calculate the current that your circuit takes. the current needed by the circuit should not exceed the rated current of the isolator. if the current needed exceeds the rated current of the isolator, change the isolator to one with a bigger value.

Come on guys give the guy a break, the 20A switch is probably flush in the nice new bathroom next to the flush mounted light switch and those 45A ones can be big and ugly looking.
