Been to a job this morning where a guy had 230v downlighters class two in an outside bar area, they are RCD protected, is this permissible or should it be SELV?Cheers

can't see a problem as long as they are suitable for the environment. i.e. weather protected and/or IP rated.

No problem i would see unless they as teletrix says they not IP rated. You say RCD so should be fine. You see loads of spots in outdoor bars and poolside and things like that. Not that i worked on many pool side bars recent....

They were normal B&Q 5 for ÂŁ20 quid jobs situated in a 8 ft square Timber clad lean to type roof with slate covering, I've RCD the circuit and changed the fittings for IP 65 fire rated, cheers fellas
