whats better 230v or 12v downlighters?

A matter of opinion really.

Less to go wrong with a GU10 downlighter, as there is no transformer - but I find the light output better off 12V downlighters.

Plus if the downlighter was above a shower, or something regardless of the IP rating, i'd prefer the 12V for peace of mind.

Hi i find 12v moor flexable and dont run as hot as 240v and yoy get moor variety with 12v

240V every time. I'm sick and tired of going to rented properties and either replacing transformers or burnt out lamp holders... makes a right mess when you pull em out of the ceiling. You have non of that with GU10 types.
If you're worried about too much heat, get the CF lamps or even better the new LED lamps, they last almost forever!
