Hi
This is my first post and I am after some info regarding the Level 3 course if possible. I have my last unit exam for level 2 and looking to prepare myelf for the next course in September. I currently have the on-site guide and wondering what other books I may need for the course.

Thanks

Hi welcome to the forum,

You will need the bs7671 regs book, Guidence notes 3 with new amendment and I think there was one called "Electrical installtions level 3" or something like that.

There are probably loads more but these are a must..

Good to hear that core electrical courses aren't yet dead, in favour of the typical 2 week and 3 day courses these training center jokers are offering!! lol!!

Best of luck to you, in your level 2 and 3 training....

Many thanks, have you any tips to prepare for the pratical exam for level 2 as I have this in a couple of months time?
I work for a commerical/Industrial electrical engineering company and the test is domestic so just looking for some heads up on sort of things you may know might be in it.

Hi I completed this last year, its bog standard stuff really, you will be bending conduit, both plastic and metal, fixing to different surfaces, like plaster board and wood. carrying out wiring, again both in conduit and T&E direct clipped, the only testing is basic, r1&r2, Insulation resistance, part completing a test sheet, just basic stuff.

Im doing L3 at the moment, just completed 302, 303, got distintion in both, have got the 301 in a couple of weeks.

Good luck with your exams.

It's the first time I've every given a "thanks" and a "like" to a first poster member but that is sound advice from glenboy.

The level 2 practical will/should involve swa, no probs if your doing com/indust atm. Good luck and ask any questions you want.

As for the level 3, the books that jay has said are spot on. I would also add trevor linsley Advanced electrical book to the list, your dealing in electronics a little, motors, design, I&T etc etc etc. Wait until the course starts and ask the tutor, he/she will tell you because that's what their teaching/referring from.

You'll enjoy level 3, its fun but bring your maths head with you and good luck.

Thats the one I meant.... Ive still got it somewhere, gathering dust! lol

If your used to doing commercial and industrial, you will feel like "Alice in wonderland" in the tiny room you will be working in.

Good luck..
