Hi I'm new to this site and just hoping someone can give me some advise on best way forward

i have just finished level 3 2230 and I know that 17th regs would be next step but....
i don't want to wait till sept when local collage courses start to do this course as it then takes 10 weeks (once a week ) to complete. So I have two questions
one where in birmingham is a good training centre to do this course
two.... Some of young lads on my course are on about having to do a NVQ also which I was not planing on doing as I thought once I do the 17th then self cert course I could sign up with NIC etc

im 34 years old and had worked with electricians for over five years before I decided to start my course 3 yrs ago, I know I have a lot more to learn but as I already run my own company don't fancy doing another couple yrs doing a NVQ like the young lads I was training with are on about,
I only plan on doing house rewires and maintenance etc so to start with just want to be able to sign off my own work.

any help on best way forward to get fully qualified would be gratefully received

If you have a good understanding of the regs and the layout of the BGB from your level 3 course then I would inquire about exam only options with your local college. Personally I think NVQ 3 is worth doing but it is not a requirement to join a scheme but it is to get a JIB gold card.

as derek says. if you are going self-employed in the domestic / light industrial sectors, then all you need to join a scam is your 17th.

I forgot to mention that as your 2330 was done to the 17th edition that for the JIB there isn't requirement to get a separate qualification (at least I believe that is still the case). I'm not sure if that applies to the scams though.
