Hey I am currently studdying the 2330 level 2 & was wondering how much harder it will get if I do level 3? Could I get an e.g?

Done my first exam 201 passed with a credit :p got my 202 coming up soon & the theory not so bad at the moment.

I'm doing L3.It's quite a bit harder than L2.
You will have to know quite a bit of the Regs and OSG,and know how to test and explain what they mean.
You'll need to know how to draw out and label the return earth paths of all earthing systems and 3-phase 11kv/400v
delt star. There's also stuff on disconnection times and related topics, and cable calcs.
It's about A level standard, the maths is about gcse level. It's not a killer like the open university mathamatical methods course I did years back anyway

Hi mate, I would say it is significantly harder than L2, there was basically very easy maths in L2 and the principles/formula's were usually only containing 3 variable so very straight forward.

The 301 exam (40 questions) sylabus is absolutly huge and rattles along at a fair old pace, it takes about 10-12 weeks just to do the maths/circuitry and thats before the months and months of motors, motors, motors and electronics.

You will learn and know inside out:- Inductive reactance, Capacitive reactance, Impedance, phasor diagrams, power factor, inductance and capacitance connected in series and paralell, general series, resonance, DC circuits, 3 phase calculations, star feeding delta and vice versa, and thats just in the first 10-12 weeks, and thats just a small part of one unit.

I'm not trying to put you off, but the difference is very noticable, I got distinctions in all 4 of my L2 exams and although i'm coping ok, I'm having to work hard at it.

Good luck

the level 3 exams are a lot harder and if you look at them now you will think they are imposable but by the time you get round to taking them you would have learned all you need to know to pass them i would concentrate on the exams you are doing now and well done on the credit

2 completly different courses, the level 2 was mainly spent in the workshop the level 3 all but a small amount was spent in the classroom, if you like your head to hurt from all the maths, formulas, equations then level 3 is for you.get a good scientific calculator.

learn your formulaes best thing i can advise as the 301 is a git some lads in my class did good on the maths side but failed it due to the health n safety side

the 302 and 303 aint to bad the main problem i had was down to nerves as the examiner was looking over my shoulder all the time and ended up with only a pass on my practical 302 due to me doing the safe isolation and forgetting the safty sign was well and truly peed with myself for that 1 silly mistake
