Hi everyone!

Just a quick one! Has anybody started or completed this portfolio we have to do on the 2357 course? I thought it wouldn't be to bad..........then I saw that it's 70 pages long lol
For instance, I don't do the risk assessments or method statements because they are done by our staff in the office. How do I get over that?

Get copies of the RAMS off the staff in your office then submit them as yours!

Im nearly finished mine......i did mine over a year on lots of different jobs, just take **** loads photos of you doing work, make sure you have ppe on, using different equipment i.e using ladders, tools etc.........get the assessor out to watch you work a few times as this will get loads signed off........get witness testimonies from your pears at work. Get photos of testing. And most of all form a good relationship with your NVQ tutor/assessor! because being pally with them makes you to not be just a number and they will want to help you pass!!........also make sure you are in the photos and not just of your work.

You can do it over any number of jobs and once you start it you'll see how easy it is to tick bits off, as one job can tick off several sections in one hit, make sure you put in detailed write ups to 'tick boxes' mentioning health and safety and correct disposal of waste. I managed to complete 40% of my NVQ from 4 detailed write ups of 4 relatively small jobs (fuseboard change, check meter addition, new towel rail control board, heating system second fix/fault finding and correction). i am currently trying to complete my nvq logbook at the minute, after being told several ways of doing it from my 4 different assessors i have finally been given a permanent assessor not agency aha, and have just done one job pack which in my eyes covered everything from 311 to 317, obviously you have to cover each of the units on two occasions. But like jim-bob said one pack can cover several units in the log book, i have just handed mine in to be looked at to see if the evidence is sufficient.
all i have done in the pack was a job installing a 2 double sockets with SWA but as evidence for the units i have got pictures with notes to say what i was doing in the pictures, my companys health and safety policy, delivery notes, my companys lock-off procedure, test and inspect sheets, candidate statement, itinery for works and print off of emails to client.
Just make sure you have someone you can use as an expert witness cause it cant be any tom dick or harry i just had to send my collegues cv and qualifications to prove he knows his stuff.

Hope this helps.
