Morning guys, thought this maybe useful to some of the guys doing the level 2 2365 and who have their practical exam coming up

Here is a pic of the board we have to wire up :

[ElectriciansForums.net] 2365 204 practical exam

Im doing this in June, on my first year ( thought it would be next year to be honest )

Bit of SWA from the CU down the tray to the socket

2 way lighting circuit wired in singles through the plastic conduit

Ring circuit, again wired in singles, out of the CU and into the trunking, going to both sockets next to the trunking, and also down the steel conduit to that socket. The socket on the end of the running coupler is a spur

Then there is some bonding to do to the 2 pipes on the left

Thought it would be a good idea to post this up and try help each other out with questions and advice, and hopefully get some good pointers from the experienced guys

Cheers

Matt

Ok so I have a couple of questions please,

1. Should the earth bonding cable be continuous between each pipe or is it acceptable to snip it ?

2. What is an acceptable way of securing the SWA to the tray ? Cable ties seem the obvious answer to me but wasnt sure if there was something else you would use ?

thanks very much guys

Matt

The bonding cable should be continuous.

You would be best to ask the college about attaching the SWA to the tray as you will be using what materials they have to give you.

Whats your time limit on this or can you go at your own pace?:)

Cheers for that mate,

We have 3 hours to wire it up and and test

The exam is actually 10 hours if you include the metal work, but we have been allowed to split it and did all the metal work separate and had to have our picture taken for evidence etc..

so on exam day we just have to wire up and dead test

Very nice, cheers mate, sitting the exam for 202 April 9th, then 203 then 210, all class side of things, so far this year we haven't done half what's in that pic in the practical lesson, I hope it's next year for me

Thanks

Simon, im not too sure to be honest, tutor hasn't sat down with us yet to explain what will be happening but i will update soon as i know

Chris, Let us know how you get on with the 202 mate, we still haven't got a date for that yet, and good luck !

Crazy, we seem to be on the same level regards college yet you are doing what's in the picture soon but have not got a date for the 202, we have not even touched swa yet at college or any sort of metal work, just a bit of conduit, and from what I know we have no plans of touching swa or metal work any time soon, the students of level 2 year 2 are working on something very similar to what's in your picture
I've only used swa once on site personally
I'd of thought the picture would of been for next year also
I'll get my results on the 9th Matt
Fingers crossed I pass

Thanks Tel and MDJ for the advice, ill make sure I do that on the day

Chris, to be honest mate our practical does seem rushed, I would have felt a lot more confortable doing it next year

Good luck with the 202 mate, let us know how you get on

Good luck with it pal
It does seem rushed doing it this early, like I said we haven't done half of it yet so it's no good doing the exam if we haven't even touched on most of it
I'd have a good crack at it only because I've done some of it on jobs
The picture u put up, did you do all the work in it, the tray and such?
At my college that's level 2 year 2 I think

I'll let u know what happens Matt

Cheers mate

Yeah all our class has done all of the metal work in the above picture, done each piece a couple of times now

Ive had to have my picture taken with all the metal work ive done for proof, and also a photo of me carrying out safe isolation on single and 3 phase

Ive also had to complete a method statement for safe isolation of a 3 phase circuit

All that is part of the 204 exam, so basically on the day of the exam i just have to wire up and test within 3 hours

cheers

Hi Matt, I spoke to my tutor tonight who does the practical side, he said level 2 first year doesn't have any exams

It's level 2 year 2 when ill be doing the exam in the picture, just like I said before on my night tech night at college they are getting their board ready but they are on the 2nd year of level 2

Are you on level 2 first year like me?
