I have the 2377-12 (In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment), but for the first time a provider near me is offering the 2377-11 (PAT Management) qualification.

Basically I was wondering whether it is beneficial to take this additional qualification or not?

agree with cbw, exams very similar, managment one deals more with knowing the frequency of items to be tested and in what places

Also it is the paper work side, instead of just putting stickers on saying it has been tested; it can mean issuing a certificate with all the readings obtained which depending on the make and model can be downloaded from the machine. This can be used to show the HSE if something has gone wrong and the appliance has been properly tested and not just a sticker stuck to the appliance saying it has been done but there is no proof.

I say this as reading some posts from people saying that companies are doing 300 items in a day, which in a 10 hour working day is 30 items an hour and this does not include any breaks[ElectriciansForums.net] 2377-11 that is an item every 2 minutes which means they cannot be tested properly[ElectriciansForums.net] 2377-11. if it was a 8 hour day that is nearly 38 items an hour[ElectriciansForums.net] 2377-11

No point in taking it as per the above posts and if you have a similar set up to myself a pat 4 and powersuite software all readings obtained are printed out anyway for HSE and customer.

I have a few days of it comming up.(YAWN)

So have been out and bought a cheap little electric hand driver to get plugs open and closed quickly.

Have ordered some plug top stickers as well as the normal rectangle ones, hopefully that will save time peeling old stickers off, practice makes perfect!!!!!!

I found it quite disturbing at the B+B I did lasy week, tested 36 items, plugs had obviously never been opened by previous tester as had seals on them. 1 plug needed replacement and rewire, 1 needed rewire as totaly frayed at plug pin and one had the neutral floating around loose!!!!

Still very borring!!!!! wolf from the door stuff though!
