Hi guys,

Finally got round to booking my 17th edition exam.

Would any of you know of any good online revision, past papers or online practice exams???

I familiarised myself with the Regs book, remembering where sections are. Managed to get hold of a few pass papers from college. There is a also a book out 17th Edition Exam Success book, it's based on the red regs book but I don't think it will do any harm if you can get a copy. There is also this site 17th Edition Exam | Questions & Answers
I have used it a few times. But the main thing to remember is you are allowed to take the regs book with you in the exam, proving you are familiar with the book and you are allowed to add post it note tabs to help you, you can't go wrong.
Just keep going through the book, take your time and the best of luck with it all...

cheers mate. i will do. i actually downloaded an online test simulator for £30. so touch wood a lot of these questions or similar will pop up in the real thing. got 5 days revision to be ready for the test on friday

There is an NICEIC sponsored 17th edition Q&A area on the Learning Lounge website. If you are training via a college, check if they have free access for their students. If not you will have to become a member via annual subscription.

hi guyz
I am a new member of this forum hope you can help me regarding my problem
Actually I want to become a fully qualified Electrician
I contacted to one institute and they are offering me a course called City & Guild Level 3 NVQ Diploma in installing Electro technical System and Equipment ( Building , Structure and the Environment (2357).
I just ant to know is this the accurate qualification for me?
And shall I be able to Test and Certified Electrical Installations after getting this qualification?

Have you done any level 2 courses? I don't think you can jump straight on to a Level 3, but I am not 100%.
I am currently on my Level 3 2357 / 2330, I have done my 17th Edition, I am set to do my AM2 in November. Not sure about 2391 yet as I am looking at getting a couple of years under my belt. If you complete your 2357 and register Part P and satisfy which ever company you go with then I believe you can sign of your own work under this scheme.
If I have it wrong I know of the forum will correct me in the nicest possible way :yes:...
Luckily for me I am about to start on a work placement organised through the college, all being good after 6 months or so, I might be offered a job. But that's done to me now..

thanks for ur reply,
but i didn't do Level 2, but an institute call OLCI they are offering me this course.
I am new in this country and i want to start my career as an Electrician, but i am really confuse how and where to get proper qualifications.

To be honest I would stay well clear unless it was a college who offered you a place there and you need to start at either 'Introduction in becoming a Electrician' or you can get on a Level 2 course. I don't know who OLCI are, but if it's a company promising you a great career just after 6 weeks, for just £10,000 stay well clear..

Your best bet is your local college, who i imagine will be more than happy to help..

i wouldnt rule out training centres, thats where i did my training and it was good for me. the quals have been updated to the 2357 now so if you want to be fully qualified form beginners level thats the course for you.

hi guys panic over. i passed my 2382-12 with flying colours (87%). All i did was book the exam with tct (training centre in harlow) at a cost of £125.

i downloaded a exam test simulator for £30 from electra course (which was my only revision).

i only booked the exam because i completed my 2330 level 3 last year, so felt pretty confident.

if you are not confident, the training centre do a 3 day course with the exam at the end for £430 odd.

but to be honest, everything is in the regs book. its just a matter of finding the answers quick enough ;0))

thanks mate.

my next step is to get on board with a body (possibly elecsa), so that i can test and sign off my own work.

but i would also like to be able to do electrical condition reports, and after looking at their website, to do them now they require you to have the 2391.

looks like i may eventually have to do the crash course of that at the same training centre. not cheap £500 something odd quid :0(

its just course after course....
